Oil India Limited (OIL) on Sunday, dated 15th November divulged that the blaze was fully doused and was successfully ‘killed’, after a blowout over 5 months. The damaged gas well at Baghjan, Assam was sealed by the Indian and Foreign experts, after a series of setbacks. The well has been scotched with a brine solution and presently is under control. Moreover, the further operations to abandon the well is in progress.
The worst industrial disaster faced by the Northeastern region of India, where the gas was spewing since May, and the massive blowout took place on June 9, this year. This uncontrollable fire took away three innocent lives, the employees of the PSU major and several others were injured.
